SHANTI Framework: Bay of Bengal as India's Maritime Anchor

India has proposed the SHANTI (Securing Holistic Advancement through Norms, Trust and Integrity) Framework as a rules-based maritime governance model while launching its candidature for the UN Security Council (UNSC) 2028–29 term. The Bay of Bengal has been identified as the pilot region for implementing the framework before expanding it across the Indo-Pacific.
