The Union Government has released the Draft National Food Security (Amendment) Bill, 2026, proposing changes to foodgrain entitlements under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY). While the Centre says the amendment will ensure equitable distribution, several States and food rights activists fear it could reduce food support for vulnerable households.
